Videos from November
Erica and I demolished two huge bowls of phở back in November. Here is how the sequence played out (be sure to watch in order):
And five minutes later, we were in the park across the street, and Erica needed a minute (ps. she says the benches aren't as comfortable as they look).
YES Erica is cleaning her teeth with a toothpick. That is the polite way to clean them here. You can pick your nose, anytime, anywhere. But cover your mouth if you have something stuck.
That is phở (pronounced like fuh-uh?), noodle and meat soup. I shall include a better description later. I'm actually not sure what all it is, and it's different a lot of places, but we just eat what they give us.
She was dipping the pieces of meat into salt, with chillies and lime. Yum yum!
Funny about Erica picking her teeth- my mom says that's what the Chinamen do, that and belch loudly. She & Dad would be at fancy State dinners full of dignitaries in Taiwan and they would all be belching (a sign of appreciation and satisfaction) and digging their teeth with their hand covering their mouth. As a 5 year old I remember the children with split crotches in their pants that would straddle open ditches and do their duty wherever they needed to. Maybe you should get a pair, then be nonchalantly taking care of things... I wonder how accurate that memory is for me- I'll have to ask mormor.
I am very impressed with Erica's chopsticks dexterity. Are you as good? :) The meat dipping thing sounds yummy. The little limes by your bowl are served with it and you cut them open as you need them? Yum, I'd be asking for more all the time.

what is this that you ate? more description of the food! it looked soupy. what was that dip that Erica was dipping into?
